In all of our readings thus far I have noticed that when anything major happens it happens on the Pentacost as they are celebrating. It seems strange since it is a holiday no longer commonly practiced but if i recall right it's held right around Easter time.
Another thing I noticed is that for the first time Guinevere is approaching someone (who isn't Lancelot) to be her paramour which would break courtly love, because he should pursue her not her him, since he is of lower birth. This is not helping her overall collected character image from the readings. It makes me wonder if Arthur's really that bad that she has to pursue other men even though it's against the rules? Because this time it's not like she's in love with Lanval.
Arthur is distinctively a non masculine character, so it does not surprise me that Guinevere looks for a knight to champion her with more strength of will than Arthur shows through out every book.
